Location

19 years ago, 12 enthusiasts, developers and freaks who had one thing in common met in my living room in Allschwil: a fascination for HP pocket calculators. There was no question of a regular schedule, it was more of a relaxed meeting with many conversations that all ran in parallel. Many of those present had already been in contact by e-mail beforehand, but this meeting was the first time they had met.

The first real Allschwil HP meeting took place in 2008. As the number of visitors was already too high, a new location had to be found - the classroom of my class at the time. The furniture was designed for the children, not for us adults. The room soon became too small and we had to move again, to the auditorium of the same school.

Now, this year, we are returning to this place - “Back to the Roots” is the motto. Our school has been given a new, large auditorium with furniture for adults, and the technology is already in place.

Programm and Schedule

We traditionally open the meeting at 10am. At 6pm we will close and, unlike the last few years, we will be served in a reasonably priced restaurant.

Pricing

It is not easy to find a free room for our meeting. Fortunately, my school is making the auditorium available to us at very favorable conditions, so we can keep the price for the meeting low.
The cost of the meeting this year is €40, participants who prepare a presentation will get a small special price of only €30 this year. The price includes small snacks and soft drinks.
As there is no kitchen available this year, we will be eating out. The costs for the restaurant will be borne by everyone.

The Allschwil HP-Meeting is open to everyone: HP enthusiasts, collectors, inventors, software developers, hardware cracks, nostalgics. Last time we were especially proud to welcome participants from 10 countries from 3 continents. Let's hope, we can continue this for this year.
